The Cioch Club…
The Cioch Mountaineering Club which was formed in 1988 is based in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. It is affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland.
The club is also affiliated to the John Muir Trust, Scotways and Friends of the Ochils. We also make donations to other charities such as Mountain Rescue organisations, SARDA and NTS.

How to Join…
Email our Chairman or Secretary in the contacts listed on the home page. We allow New Members to sample two weekend meets before joining. Membership fees are only £25 per year with reduced rates for concessions. This includes 3rd Party Insurance arranged through the Mountaineering Scotland (formerly MCofS).

Booking a Meet…
Meet lists for booking are released 3 months in advance (see Club Meets).
Club Activities…
Hillwalking is not the only outdoor activity pursued by members. Some members do indoor and outdoor climbing, canoeing, cycling, running and winter skiing.
How Experienced do I Need to Be…
All experience levels are welcome – we have a number of members who have climbed all of Scotland’s Munro’s, some more than once, as well as members who are just starting their hill walking experience and have climbed only a handful. Meet routes are usually arranged on the Friday night of the Meet and like minded groups then form – inexperienced members can seek advice on the best group to accompany according to their fitness/experience level.
What Will I Need…
Normal walking gear will be required (e.g. hill boots, waterproof jacket, rucksack etc). A sleeping bag is also sometimes required depending on the accommodation (details of accommodations can be found in ‘Club Meets’ in top menu). You will also need food for Breakfast, Dinner and Lunch – although if there is a pub near by then some members may go there for dinner.
Accommodation…
We arrange regular weekend meets in some of Scotland’s most beautiful locations where we stay in independent or private bunkhouses and where the cost normally ranges between £10 – £20 per night.
Transport…
Transportation is arranged between club members usually on the Thursday night before a meet. Car sharing is usually arranged between members to help share the cost of petrol, ease parking at accommodation and help out those that are unable to drive themselves.
