Rum Bunkhouse, Kinloch, Isle of Rum

Station Bunkhouse, Plockton

Station Bunkhouse, Plockton

Date : 4th-6th September 2020
Spaces : 10+
Cost : £36

This is an old favourite Cioch bunkhouse that we haven’t visited for a wee while. With only 8 regular trains through the station each day, Plockton is of limited interest to trainspotters, however by contrast, it is an excellent base for hill walkers, with Torridon just up the road, Kintail just down the road and Skye just over the bridge. For those looking for a less hilly day, there are fine coastal walks around Hamish MacBeth’s wee village or an exciting car or bicycle ride over the Bealach na Ba to the delightful Applecross Inn. All bed linen is supplied by the bunkhouse.
This bunkhouse is a 10 minute walk from hotel restaurants and bars in the village, so there are various options to eat out for those who want. Equally, the bunkhouse has adequate kitchen facilities for those who prefer to dine in. We have initially booked two bedrooms, one with three bunk beds and one with two bunk beds.
The bunkhouse describes itself with the following bullet points; light and airy building, shower in both rooms, washing/drying room, large open plan kitchen/dining area, central heating, free wifi.
